Hi
I am after a companion for our old doberman (11 years old) who still thinks she is two. I Am In Western Australia and like the look of your pointers in particular I Was wondering if you would consider sending a puppy this way once your dog has had the litter?
Thanks Monique
Was browsing the site and have become even more keenly interested in a Pointer puppy, and would love to know more about availability, price, their wants and needs etc. Would they be suited to a family with a 3 year old?
Hope to hear back soon,
Thanks in advance
Jeff and family
I have three girls who are still available at this point in time. They are on the front page of this blog.
Pointers are active dogs who want to be a part of the family and would prefer to be inside with you (although my own dogs are ‘outside only’ and are quite okay with this.) The are very affectionate dogs and will often select one person in the house as a ‘favourite’ but will also be happy to take attention from anyone if someone else is giving out the pats. The are very intelligent and alert dogs, although they are easily distracted when it comes to things they love… like birds. It’s not uncommon for a Pointer running flat out to stop mid-stride and freeze while checking out some birds, then start stalking them. It’s also not uncommon for a Pointer to forget themselves and just chase and chase oblivious to you calling them back. Early recall training helps a lot with stopping this from happening.
Pointers are alert and are great for giving a warning bark when strangers approach, but don’t rely on them for ‘guarding’. Pointers are generally a well mannered dog but they need firm and fair discipline from a young age (not harsh, just firm). If you tread too softly with a Pointer they will walk all over you with their big eyes and mornful expression and you can end up with a destructive and ill-mannered dog.
All my dogs are raised with children. I have an 11 year old, a 10 year old and 2 year old twins. My older kids have been known to sneak the dogs into the house for cuddles and the dogs also loved my younger two boys and are very gentle with them. They are a breed that is excellent with children if they are raised with children.
If you would like to know more, please call me on 07 3892 1173 or email me at breilla@optusnet.com.au
You’re welcome to come and meet the pups and their mother and grandmother if you wish.
We are very interested in having a Pointer as our family pet. We have a 4yr old boy who is very keen to make a new friend for life. Please keep us in mind when you have your next pups. We would like a male. Yellow and white, Tan and white.
Please email me of any future plans.
Thank-you
